Note: package is not depends on any renderer, it can be used for BuiltIn/URP/HDRP pipelines. Demo scenes are included for BuiltIn and URP pipelines.



With this tool You can split your original large terrain to smaller parts. They still will be connected and each part will contain their portion of layers, trees, details.



Features

- Terrain copy - you can change everything for copied terrain, i.e. layers, layer tiles, trees, details params etc and it will not affect source terrain.

- Terrain splitting from higher to lower heightmap resolution. I.e. You can split 2048x2048 terrain to 4 1024x1024 terrains or 16 terrains with heightmap resolution 512x512. Next each part can be set up independently but stay connected.

- Reduce unused layers - many terrain layers can lead to game slowdown, you can paint terrain with full set of layers and later reduce them by configurable usage threshold or by max allowed layers (i.e. 4 or 8 from Unity recommendations, only most used layers will be left).

- Reduce unused tree/details - original terrain can have multiple unused tree and details models and textures. It's possible to skip them during terrain copy/optimization.

- Copy tree/detail prototypes between terrains - now You can easy copy tree and/or details palette between multiple terrains. Can be useful to create single palette once and copy between all of the scene terrains. Later they can optimized to cleanup unused.

Contains demo scene with source terrain and several optimized versions to compare performance in play mode.
Tested for Unity 2019.3 and above.
