ManaVR's Image Sequencer is a useful plugin that can play a list of images with the same dimensions as if playing a movie.
It includes basic movie playing controllers like starting, pausing, stopping, looping, and seeking to certain positions. It can also play DDS compressed files, or package images into one big file and directly play them without unpack the file again.
Movie textures are common in Unity based applications, but Image Sequencer will do better in some situations, such like reversed playing, and making use of transparent frames, which most movie file players can hardly support.
Core Features:
- Support common image formats: PNG, JPG, TIFF, BMP, with RGB and RGBA pixel formats.
- Support DDS compressed file format, including DXT1 and DXT5 (with alpha channels).
- Support basic playing controllers: starting, pausing, stopping, seeking, looping.
- Support multiple instances of one sequence, which means to sharing the same resources.
- Support packaging images into one big file and quickly play embedded images using memory paging, without unpacking the file.
- Support loading large sequence (total size over 1GB) on the fly, without memory overflow.
Image Sequencer supports the following platforms at present:
- Windows;
- Mac OSX.
