Quantum Studios is a Studio Dedicated to Technical Sound Design and R&D based in Berlin, Germany. It is the moniker for the sound designer/ sound artist Tiago Morais Morgado, who is also the curator for Nachtstuck Records.


Tiago Morais Morgado was born in 1988 in Braga, Portugal, and is an independent music professional with a passion for viola and electronic music. Tiago has a diverse range of interests and is influenced by various music genres, including free improvisation, contemporary music, electroacoustic music, and digital media arts. He has multiple degrees in music, including classical music performance, musicology, music technology, and sonology, and studied under various notable figures such as Richard Barrett, Joel Ryan, Rui Dias, Gustavo Costa, Carlos Guedes, Tomás Henriques, Jorge Alves, Rute Azevedo, and Ana Sério.

Tiago has had the opportunity to work with some of the most well-known improvisers in the music industry since 2010, including Evan Parker, Peter Evans, Mark Dresser, Jason Hwang, William Parker, Fred Frith, Joe Morris, Joe McPhee, Chris Corsano, Ohad Talmor, Dan Weiss, and Miles Okazaki, attending workshops on improvisation music. He has also attended lectures, seminars, and workshops with other prominent figures in the music industry, such as Trevor Wishart, Daniel Teruggi, Douglas Kahn, Arne De Force, John Richards, Larry Polansky, Diemer de Vries, Mathew Ostrowski, Francisco Lopez, Lawrence Harvey, Edwin van Heide, Barry Truax, Matmos, Phil Niblock, and Tarik Barri.

Tiago has performed his music in various countries, including Portugal, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Serbia, and Spain, in venues such as Today's Art, Studio Loos, Cafe de Vinger, Korzo Theatre, Trouw Amsterdam, Blik Opener, Maskerade Sinzine, Martin Luther Kerke, Radio Tonka, Autonomous Centrum, Royal Anton Szaal, Kees Van Baaren Hall, Cinemateca Nacional (Linha de Sombra), Teatro A Barraca, Dias de Música Electroacústica (Seia), Mosteiro de São Bento da Vitoria, Pedro Remy, Mosteiro de Tibães, MIA - Festival de Musica Improvisada de Atouguia da Baleia, MARCO (Museum of Contemporary Arts of Vigo), CCB (Festival Musica Viva), and Harvestworks NYC (60*60) and Cuba Munster, ICMC-SMC 2014 - as a solo artist -, Coliseu do Porto (Viola Tutti Orquestra Artave), SXSW, EXIT Festival, and Islington Metal Works (as a session musician for :Papercutz).

In addition to his performance career, Tiago is the founder of Nachtstuck Records, a record label that has released music by various artists, including Karlheinz Essl, John Dikeman, Gregory Taylor, Colectivo Abaetetuba, Wilbert De Joode and Gonçalo Almeida, Robert Van Heumen, Hans Tammen, Funckarma (Roel Funcken), Mathew Ostrowski, among others. The label supports small-scale philanthropic contributions. Tiago's music has been featured in XLR8 (with Necrostilet, 2007) and Gonzo Circus (as a solo artist in a mixtape curated by Jonathan Reus), as well as Wire Adventures in Modern Music, Attic Magazine, and Publico (Discrepant Antologia de Musica Portuguesa).

From 2014 to 2015, Tiago worked as a sound engineer at ARTAVE, the very school where he first started his musical journey. During this time, he collaborated with notable conductors such as Luis Machado, Ernst Schelle, Emilio de Cesar, and Howard Williams, as well as renowned soloists. Presently, Tiago is concentrating on enhancing his artistic and technical skills and views his work as an opportunity for personal and collective growth while also allowing him to contribute to philanthropic causes to some extent. Tiago has worked as an assistant sound designer for the game Turing Test at Bulkhead Interactive and has also contributed to the development of the game Wreckfest as a member of a subsidiary studio making outsourcing for THQ Nordic. Furthermore, he is a contributor to the Unity Asset Store and has collaborated with Sponge Creative Hub on several projects.
