This is the easiest way to add snow to your Unity game, ON EVERYTHING! Trees, Grass, Terrain, Billboards, Regular AND Skinned Mesh Renderers. With the ability to control the exact direction snow falls, on a global scale!
Why do I need this?
Long gone are the days of tediously setting up hundreds of materials, or painting snow onto textures. Screen Space Snow is applied procedurally to every object using unitys built in surface shaders, as a camera effect! This means an entire scene can have snow, with only a few clicks. Check it out in action here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urb8hgFhHkM
How much control do I have over the snow?
Using basic shapes, you can control where snow falls, and where it can't. Removing snow from a building, or around a fire, is incredibly simple! The effects can be reversed as well. You can control where snow should go in a scene, for creating magic spells, or a snowy biome in an open world game!
Tell me more, please!
The Screen Space Snow asset is constantly updated by our developers. As well as all of the comprehensive and immersive snow shader options already available in SSS, there are a ton of new features coming in future updates, which in include...
❄ A complete winter weather system, snowstorms, clouds etc.
❄ Terrain matching audio footsteps, for that snow-crunch sound we all love..
❄ Alternative ground covers, such as: sand, moss, ivy etc..
❄ Footprints in the snow, and other decal effects built in..
❄ A full suite of forward-rendering compatible shaders, allowing even more customization!
Control how textures are projected onto your scene, to prevent tiling, and prevent stretching. Snow can come from any direction, and will always look good thanks to rotated projection mapping.
What about the technical details? What else should I know?
At this time, only surface shaders and effects written into the GBuffer are fully supported. SSS comes with a programmer-friendly shader include file that lets you add snow to any shader, not to mention that all source code is included!
HDR Support is on it's way, with the release of Unity 2018. The new Scriptable Rendering Pipelines open a world of possibilities for us to bring to you!

We hope screen space snow solves all of your ❄Snowy❄ needs. If you would like to help us, a quick review would be very welcome.
Thank you.
