Polaris is a fast and easy to use low poly terrain tool which help you to create gorgeous landscapes, that can run well on both Desktop, Mobile and VR applications, save you a lot of time and effort!

Polaris provides everything you need to create beautiful low poly terrain, from sculpting, texturing, planting, decorating, rendering and natural simulations. All in one place. It's a mixture of powerful procedural generation and the good old traditional painting technique.

It's also a part of our tools & shaders ecosystem that work well together and compatible with third party assets, a huge advantage in your process of making low poly terrain.

WHAT'S NEW IN THIS VERSION

Polaris 3 low poly terrain is the next major version of the Polaris franchise, bringing many features & improvements to supercharge your project:

  • A complete overhaul of foliage renderer: Efficiently use of GPU Instancing, cell based culling for trees, additional LOD1, smart LOD selection with fallback & transition, automatic vertex reduction for grass, etc. The system can draw a lively environment faster than your eyes blink.
  • Radial mode selector & brush adjuster for paint tool: You can quickly switch paint mode and adjust brush strokes right in the Scene view, a productivity boost.
  • Raw Importer: 8/16/32 bits raw files (.raw, .r16, .r32) will be imported as R8, R16 and RFloat, so you can easily use them with the stamper/data importer.
  • New set of brush masks for paint tool: Adding 24 brush masks replacing the old ones targeting specific painting purposes: make platforms, hexagon grids, smoothing, make mountains, detail noise, earth cracking, pixelated fx, etc
  • New set of stamp textures: Adding 20 stamp textures to be used with the geo stamper.
  • Polaris API: A new set of utility static functions allowing you to do most performed tasks on the terrain such as runtime terrain creation & modification, get dominant texture index for footstep system, etc.
