Mado Shipwreck No.1, Goryeo 1131

Mado 1 was the first shipwrecked ship discovered near Mado Island in Taean and was a grain carrier that carried grains harvested in Naju, Haenam, and Jangheung in the South during the Goryeo Dynasty to Gaegyeong. Among them, an amazing heritage is the cargo list with the sender and receiver of the cargo written on it. It contained various information such as the shipping date and destination of the cargo, the receiver, and the type and quantity of the cargo. Rice, beans, millet, buckwheat, and salted fish were in the hull, indicating the dietary lifestyle of people in the Goryeo Dynasty. Mado 1 was buried almost without inclination even in the sea. The size of the hull was 10.8m long and 3.7m wide, leaving a considerable part. However, structures such as the upper part of the hull, and deck were lost and could not be confirmed.
