Please note that due to a Unity Asset Store limitation the access to the individual assets is provided as a free upgrade instead of having the bundle containing all stamps. Just select the individual assets and assign them to your Unity account.
⚙️ Usage
These heightmap textures can be used as brushes with the Unity terrain tools in order to paint features on your Unity terrain. Or you could use these heightmap textures in other assets like MicroVerse, Atlas, Map Magic 2, Vista, Gaia, etc.
Of course, you could use them in any other software you like, the sky is the limit!
🖌️ Stamping
Blending heightmaps together using Unity's terrain tools is a quick and easy way to create awesome-looking terrain. The built-in editor provides a brush preview, so you can adjust your stamp in detail before applying it.
To use the Unity terrain stamping tool, first, create a new terrain.
Then, in the Terrain Inspector, click on the 'Edit Terrain' button. This will bring up the Terrain Editor window.
In the Terrain Editor window, select the 'Stamp' tool from the toolbar.
Then, in the 'Stamp Settings' panel, select the heightmap you want to use for your stamp. You can also adjust the strength and size of your stamp here.
Once you're happy with your stamp, apply it to your terrain! You can then use the other tools in the Terrain Editor to further refine your terrain.
❓FAQ
I already bought this package, what now?
Go and grab the other packages. They are provided as free upgrades for you and every other package coming out will also be a free upgrade. The price will go up if a new package will be released, so you can call yourself an "early bird" ;) (forever)
Can I use it for mobile games?
Well, yes of course, but this question is rather an optimization question. I only provide you with the artistic set. I recommend using Terrain to Mesh 2021 or any other respective tool. This is also a really great way for top-down games.
Can I use it for first-person or third-person games?
Of course! The greatness of using high-resolution (4K) heightmaps is to scale them up while keeping crispy details. If you want to create a gorgeous landscape, use these stamps to lay out the base. Then (depending on your workflow) texture it, place vegetation, configure post-processing effects, add clouds (like with Weather Maker), etc.
Devils in the details!
There is a reason, why there are people working solely as landscape artists, nevertheless you can make your life easier with this package, even as a pro!
Can I use it only for games?
NO. Just No. Remember Unity is not only a game engine but also a great rendering tool. (Check out HDRP) You can of course use it, to create apps for all kinds of platforms. If you are reading this, you probably are interested in creating awesome landscapes.
So regardless if you want to create some cool illustrations, want to lay out some base for drawing over it (like a concept artist), or want to create some product design renderings, as long as you want to incorporate some astonishing environments, this pack is for you!
How can I contact you?
Contact me at [email protected]! I am always happy to help. If there are some things missing, just write me a mail, explain what you are aiming for, and I will try to create some custom ones (which will be later released as an update for everyone!). If you have a problem, try to explain what you have done, and what version of Unity you are using, so I can reproduce the error. With these stamps there is not much to be done "wrong", if you are using another "editor tool", please contact the respective creator.
Why should I buy your package, instead of creating my own stamps?
This package is meant to be a time saver, not a replacement. I highly encourage you to check out other "editor tools" and/or software packages!
There are so many awesome things (like Atlas or Gaia 2021), and depending on your project, can be a real time-saver. But learning a new tool can take time, especially when you need dedicated hardware for it, or if you never touched something like this before and don't want to go too deep into the topic.
These packages were not like "click and done", I tried a lot of different tools and even "combined" them, to get something I would like to use in my own game. I am still developing a top-down strategy game, it takes of course longer than expected. Again...
At least I have now an arsenal of different stamps to choose from. :P
What file format are they?
All of them are .tiff (int 16, red channel) files. You can of course use a free online converter, to make them a .png file, which is much smaller. For "safety" I used this file type to always have the details/compression, regardless of what I am working on or in what software I am working on.
