What is this asset?

FPCharacter Controller is a first person character controller using the standard in-built component with many changes and modifications to make it more functional, advanced, accessible, customizable and using those factors to improve on the controller. The controller can interact better with collision and the environment around it and has features such as double jumping, dashing, surface sliding, ladder climbing, object mantling, water-based movement, and more.


How do I use it?

To use the asset simply install the package and press play to get started. There are no other requirements to get the asset up and running and playable and any changes or additions can be done immediately by the users by using the existing code or creating new scripts and features.


What does it come with?

The package contains numerous features which are:

- Player character using the old input system

- Simple player model using a 3D capsule and multiple object and obstacle meshes

- Prefabs folder containing several required components

- Two example scenes that allow the user to test the controller and all its movements and mechanics in slightly different environments where it can be fined tuned to suit their needs

- Character movement focused on first person, with a very basic third person option

- Altered player movement when jumping and airborne

- Player can jump, double jump, use a bounce pad, sprint, crouch, climb ladders, interact with and move separately in water, object mantle, dash and slide down slopes

- Multiple camera setup, with no clipping into objects

- Simple collision with some new additions including automatic sliding off the edges of objects

- Player can move on even and uneven surfaces, and different kinds of terrain

- Ability to move up and down slopes with a slope limit, also jumping down slopes

- Ability to interact and collide with rigidbodies

- Ladder climbing feature

- Water interaction and movement with multiple features

- Makes use of several layers which can be used or ignored

- Contains speed boosts and speed reductions

- Contains different platforms such as moving and rotating

- Camera remains free while interacting with a rotating platform while the player follows the rotation

- Contains a bounce pad which the player can also use together with the dash mechanic
