Unity already has a "Select All" function, which is very useful, but a "Deselect All" function is sorely lacking.
In large scene files, it can be surprisingly laborious to find an empty spot to click in order to clear your selection.
This is no longer an issue. Just hit (Cmd+opt+A) to clear your selection.
