This tool made not just for the value it provided in making tile-based game with ease, for extensibility for your own purpose, but also to inspire, to inspire the paradigm of how tool and game could be made differently.
As a base tool towards unlimited possibilities, it is designed for flexibility in mind, considering the pain of non-programmers in making strategy type game, especially tile-turned-based game where most of the time, only hard-coded mechanism can provide variation. This tool can help to turn the tide to a certain degree.
GodlikeBoard, the magic behind this tool. As long as a center is defined, it can convert the drawing on the GodlikeBoard Editor to entities mechanism, scene board, or for whatever purpose it is for. And THE VALUE OF GodlikeBoard LIES AT ITS ABILITY TO MANIPULATE PATTERN AT INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE NO OTHER SOLUTIONS OR METHOD CAN BEAT, DURING RUNTIME.
Currently, this tool provided a base towards Jumpable A* pathfinding algorithm in achieving restriction mechanism as one of the inspiration GodlikeBoard could have been used on. Yes, the provided pathfinding algorithm isn't just a common A*, but jumpable A*, with the help of GodlikeBoard, an option for unit to consider jumping between predefined amount of tile is possible.
Most of turn-based or tile-based game exist by having restriction as one of their mechanism, like the number of tile a unit can move per action point, etc.
With this tool, such restriction can be drawn on the GodlikeBoard Editor and apply direction to the desirable unit without needing to touch any of the code, and, it provides the opportunity for unit to have movement pattern much more superior and unique than hard coded movement could have achieved, without effort. This patternfulness alone could provide millions possibilities, to characters with unique rig, or something else.
Support rapid prototyping. This tool can help you in speeding up the process of prototyping a game, all of the tool provided in this asset have taken runtime data changes in account so that when data is being edited during Play mode, entities with GodlikeBoard data that are being affected by such change will have the change effective immediatedly.
This tool created with the basic idea of maximizing flexibility, and possibly anti-code on the process of making tile-based, board-based, turn-based game, whatever you named it. But the usage of this tool definitely wouldn't end there, it can help you make something you and I had never possibly imagined.
