Needless to say, it does exactly what its name suggests! Bake texture information into vertex colors! Fast! Highly efficient! No need to resort to other software! Get the job done in Unity the first time! And it can be saved in your FBX forever!
Advantage:
- Vertex colors are stored in vertex information, and in most cases, their memory footprint is much lower than that of textures!
- Compared to texture sampling, the performance cost of the shader reading vertex colors is almost zero
Feature:
- With just a few clicks, textures can be baked into vertex colors.
- Baking vertex color works within Unity directly into source mesh or FBX models without the need to export into other external modeling programs.
- Support for multi-threaded accelerated baking based on Unity JobSytem, tens of thousands of vertices get the job done in just a few seconds!
- Support for baking custom texture channels to custom vertex color channels! (e.g. R--G)
- Optional SGRB color conversion
- Output a separate Unity Asset file
Discount:
- If you've already acquired LightMap To VertexColor, you can obtain this new package at just 20% of the price of LightMap To VertexColor! Thanks for your support! Cheers!
Note:
- The result of baking into vertex colors largely depends on the number of vertices you have and their distribution! Since vertex colors essentially involve vertex shading, it's difficult to compare with the precision of textures when the number of vertices is small.
- To support multi-threaded acceleration, this package relies on the Unity JobSystem component packages (Unity.Collections, Unity.Mathematics) and the Unity FBX Export to support FBX writes!
- Vertex color is a property of the mesh itself, so you need to have some shader knowledge for vertex color usage!
- Textures must be readable and write, but meshes don't!
- This package comes with some shaders that use vertex information for coloring. These shaders are written with ShaderGraph. If these shaders don't work properly in your version, open them and save them again. Or you can contact me. The baking tool itself is not restricted by the rendering pipeline.
